Castles & Crusades Players Handbook #7

Created by Stephen Chenault

You’ll find with C&C that the game is easy to play, but more importantly is its versatility. You can take your house rules and drop them right on top of the C&C mechanic (the Siege Engine) and keep on playing. You are in control. Take the advantage/disadvantage system from 5E and use it with C&C. There’s nothing stopping you. What’s even better, because the whole game is driven by attribute checks that have only loose guidelines, the game master chooses what attribute check the player rolls. If they want the wizard to swim better, make the character roll an intelligence check to swim the river. It’s your game. Take it.

C&C Players Handbook KS Update (gods and monsters)
almost 5 years ago – Fri, Jun 07, 2019 at 10:33:11 PM

Greetings from the Dens!

Many of you have probably forgotten the promised Of Gods and Monsters soft cover that you reaped with backing this Kickstarter. To refresh your memory it was a stretch reward that we posted but that had no real release date as it was not anywhere on the schedule.

But, we put it on the schedule over a year ago and hired a great writer to do it. Things got in the way and he had to back out of the project. We followed that up with a second writer and he too had to back out. At that point Steve Chenault (Codex of Aihrde, Adventurers Backpack, etc.) decided to write it. But previous commitments kept knocking him (me, I"m writing this) out of the Gods and Monsters loop. With the looming planescapes books he/me is writing and Aufstrag, Gods and Monsters keeps getting knocked around.

No more. I have done what I should have done two years ago. I have hired James M Ward, the original author of the book to go in and expand the text I wanted expanded, fill out the stat blocks designed for it and flesh out the book in general. Jim is a darn good writer, and has never missed a deadline. It is now in good hands.

To that end I have sent him notes on what I want expanded, outlined the approach I would like him take and send him the samples I was working on. Essentially the book will grow in two directions: 1) The descriptive stat blocks of each god will be greatly expanded, generally doubled 2) The stat blocks will be doubled as well with information pertinent to game play. As he is doing that I will wrap up the revision of the Avatars as presented.

I will work with Jim to get a handle on turn around time. But work at last has begun in earnest.

Thank you all for your patience!
